I got an Access Stage 5 small body today. It does not have the removable
back pad, and the padding on the back of the case seems very thin. It also
differs from the photos above in having a gap of 4-5 inches in the side
padding from the waist to where the upper bout padding starts (as in the
photo on their website). It does
have the removable pad at the shoulders and one for the headstock. The
hardware works well.

It's OK, but I don't like the thin back padding, and the foam used in all the
padding seems very lightweight--it starts very stiff, but as soon as it is
crushed by squeezing, it loses resiliency. I would rather have my guitar in a
TKL Professional.
Wow somthing is up here! I have never got one of the small body with the cutout for the electronics (the gap you refer to) On all the the cases I got there was equal padding on the bottom as on a TKL Pro. I will have to check in on the gap issue as I do not want it on any case I use

No cutout on this sample Access 5 Small Body case I got.

I compared it to the Taylor Grand Concert case for padding. The old black plastic Taylor case has rigid styrofoam type, not padded at all. I have no idea which is better.

This thread is not a recommendation of Access Cases on my part. Just reporting on what I found when one was delivered to my door for trial.

The only negative is that when attempting to shove my SJ body into the cavity, I inadvertently cause a glue joint to open on the removable shoulder padding which is covered well with the velvet. Will require a little hot glue to put it back, but it was something I caused.

I do like the five latches, because it makes this guitar safer in my view, much like the Cedar Creek Cases which also carry five latches. I actually prefer the leather handle on the Access Stage 5 to the Cedar Creek wrapped affair. Fits my hand better, and feels like fine luggage. Report end.

Howard, I bet Keith would shoot you the lowerbout pad in the mail, it's lightweight, and supposed to be in there. My Taylor GC wants it, my SJ does not. Matter of fact, since this guitar is for my son's SJ, let me know and I'll send this pad to you.

I sent Keith an email this am, but please hang on to the pad, Bruce. I'll let
you know.

EDIT: Keith says I may have received an earlier version. I'll update as I find
out more.

BTW, Bruce, I only took you to be reporting. Howard Klepper38755.5540972222

I have been using the Stage 5 cases and have no complaints at all. Can't beat the price!

Keith (his last name is Leigh, BTW) confirms that I received an earlier case
and is replacing it.
